Have you ever been in an intolerable situation and wished you had a crystal ball?
If only we could see how it ends.
Would this resolve?
Will this relationship heal?
Will this season ever close?
If God would just show us the future, we could prepare. We could steady ourselves. We could make decisions with certainty.
But God does not operate with crystal balls.
That is not His way.
📖 Today’s Scripture
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
Notice what the verse says.
A lamp.
Not a spotlight.
Not a panoramic view.
Not the full script.
A lamp was a small clay lantern—just enough light for the next step. The very image implies darkness. We cannot see far ahead.
And that is intentional.
God gives us light for our feet, not the full forecast.
Why Doesn’t He Show Us the End?
It might seem more efficient if He did.
But growth rarely happens in certainty.
God is not withholding the future to control us. He is shaping us through trust. If we had the whole plan, we might rely on strategy instead of surrender.
Instead, He gives us His Word.
Not the ending – but the next step.
Daily Provision
In the wilderness, the Israelites received manna one day at a time. They could not store it up for tomorrow. God was teaching daily dependence.
He still does.
We don’t receive next year’s clarity today.
We receive enough light for this moment.
The crystal ball would inform us.
The lamp transforms us.
God is not merely preparing you for an outcome.
He is forming you along the way.
🤍 Reflection
Where are you wishing for a crystal ball?
What step has God already illuminated?
Walk that one.
For today, the lamp is enough.
🙏 Prayer
Lord,
When life is raging, I long for certainty. I want a plan I can work toward. If only I knew it would end well. I confess that I want the ending before I take the step.
But You have given me Your Word as a lamp for today. Teach me to trust the light that reveals Your path instead of craving answers about the future—my own crystal ball.
Shape my faith in the waiting. Strengthen my heart in the unknown. Help me take the next faithful step and trust my future to You, the One who holds it securely in Your hands.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
