My Loves

I’m married to a determined, intelligent man who refuses to be defined by disability. Since 1988, we’ve moved more than 14 times, experiencing life in multiple cultures—including three incredible years in Europe with our children. Together, we raised two remarkably creative and driven individuals. Our son, Chase Ryan, is a media producer, photographer, and founder of Ryan River Media. Our daughter, Debby, is an actress, writer, and producer. Ela, our granddaughter, is the sunshine in my life.

My Battles

In 2014, I was diagnosed with advanced, aggressive Stage 4 breast cancer. (If interested in the raw, behind-the-scenes details, click HERE.) We chose to keep my diagnosis private from more than 15 million fans so our family could walk through it together. We even froze my scalp during chemo to maintain our privacy. Today, I celebrate ten years in “NED” (No Evidence of Disease). But the battle taught me that courage, faith, and resilience aren’t optional—they’re essential. I still need them every day. That’s why I write A Cup of Courage—a blog where I share my struggles, my faith, and the grace that keeps me going.

My Joys

Storytelling has always been in my DNA. As a child, I turned storybooks into living room productions starring dolls, pets, and toy props. That passion grew into neighborhood plays, school performances, and creative projects for volunteer organizations. When Chase and Debby entered the entertainment world, I found myself with a front-row education—and eventually, a career behind the scenes.

I directed behind-the-scenes videos for Disney Channel films, produced a dance instruction video for Radio Rebel and 16 Wishes, pitched character ideas for Jessie, consulted on cast and crew decisions, and served as Executive Producer on the indie film Jessica Darling’s It List. I founded Ryan Group Entertainment and co-founded Debby Ryan Inc. and Shadowborn Productions.

My 2nd Chance

Facing death changed me. My battle with cancer rekindled my creative purpose—but this time, for God. Today, I find joy not only in writing, but also in speaking. I love sharing my story, encouraging others, and offering hope through the transformative power of faith.

Whether through my blog, books, or speaking engagements, my heart is to inspire and uplift through the world’s most powerful redemptive love story.

This is just the beginning. I call it “Stage Five” of my journey—and it starts here.
