There are seasons in life when we find ourselves carrying more than we were ever meant to bear. Disappointment, anger, shock, grief, fear, regret, and uncertainty can pile upon our shoulders until we feel weighed down and exhausted. We replay conversations, second-guess decisions, and wonder how things became so difficult.
In those moments, God invites us to do something that doesn’t come naturally. He asks us to bring our burdens to Him.
The cross is not only a symbol of salvation; it is also the place where we can lay down the things that are crushing our hearts. We can bring Him our battles, our questions, our failures, and even our emotions. Nothing is too heavy, too messy, or too complicated for Him.
One of the enemy’s greatest tactics is to keep us trapped in shame. He reminds us of our mistakes and failures and convinces us that we must somehow earn God’s forgiveness. But Scripture teaches the opposite. God’s grace is a gift. Jesus already paid the price for our sins. We don’t have to beg for mercy that has already been purchased through His sacrifice.
When we come to God in humility, confessing our sins and surrendering our burdens, we find forgiveness, peace, and direction. The circumstances around us may not immediately change, but something inside us does. The weight becomes lighter because we are no longer carrying it alone.
The future often feels uncertain. We cannot see what lies around the next bend in the road. Yet God never asks us to know the entire journey. He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step. As we walk through roads unknown, we can choose to seek His face rather than focus on our fears.
Seeking His face means pursuing His presence above all else. It means trusting His character when we don’t understand His plan. It means believing that the One who saved us will also guide us.
Whatever burden you are carrying today, bring it to the foot of the cross. Leave it there. Receive His forgiveness, rest in His grace, and allow Him to lead you forward.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can know the One who holds tomorrow.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13
