Biblical encouragement for every season of life

Isn’t it so beautiful and astounding that God speaks through His creation? We can learn about Him and His ways by studying what He has made. We learn about Him by studying how He does things.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earthand making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater. Isaiah 55:10

As we move into the season of fall, I’m allowing it to remind me that all change serves a purpose. He can speak to us through all of it. The leaves shine brightly before they fall. They protect the ground during winter and, over time, decompose and enrich the soil for new growth. It is a dying and a preparation for a darker time, but that darkness will eventually give way to the brightness of spring and summer.

We can often see the signs of change and have time to prepare for what is coming ahead. God works and speaks in cycles and seasons, and nothing is wasted, not even our mistakes.  My dad used to say, “The only constant thing is change.”  We can take courage in the fact that if we don’t like where we are, it will change, and God can prepare and strengthen us for the upcoming seasons.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: Ecclesiastes 3:1

Prayer

God, You are the Creator and Designer, and You faithfully give us wisdom when we ask. Lord, I ask You for wisdom for this upcoming season. Help me recognize approaching change, prepare for it as much as possible, and leave the rest to You. You waste nothing, so I give You the past—the good and the bad that have fallen to the ground—and ask You to use it all for Your glory and for the nourishment of others.

In Jesus’ name, thank You. Amen.
