Biblical encouragement for every season of life

We all face giants in life. As I face mine, I’m not always sure what to do, and fear is quick to fill my mind with worst-case scenarios. But when I turn to God and hold onto His Word, I find comfort and hope. Today’s poem reflects those desperate moments—when we are standing in the storm or bracing for the battle ahead. It gives voice to the doubt and fear we feel, much like the writers of the Psalms who poured out their hearts honestly before God. Then, the poem shifts. What follows is the response God has brought to my heart through Scripture—written as a conversation, as if He is speaking directly to the weary soul. It’s a reminder that even in our fear, we are heard, held, and never alone.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help? My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:-12

Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you.  I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you. Isaiah 43:1-2

…casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV

But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. 2 Timothy 1:12 ESV
