Biblical encouragement for every season of life

God’s capacity to speak to us is unlimited. His brilliance in crafting messages within messages—without losing the powerful simplicity of His holy and unfailing love—is equal parts genius and beautiful. Reading the Bible is never the same experience for me, yet the message of His love remains constant.

“No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God designed for our glory before time began.” – 1 Corinthians 2:7

The way God chose to introduce the most earth-changing proclamation is layered with meaning—breadcrumbs that all point back to His love and to the greatest news ever given. I was especially inspired by one of those breadcrumbs: His choice to tell the shepherds.

“The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.” – Colossians 1:26

They were low on the social totem pole of their day. Ordinary. Uncelebrated. Yet they were faithful keepers of the sacrificial lambs. How fitting. How beautiful. God came first not to the powerful or influential, but to the humble, the lowly, the faithful.

“God has selected [for His purpose] the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong [revealing their frailty].”  1 Corinthians 1:27

The message within the message is clear: God is not found in seats of earthly power, but among those who humbly and faithfully seek Him. This is how we come to heaven—not by works of righteousness, not by position or influence—but through the door of grace alone.

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:5-7
