…the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Ephesians 1:6
Accepted
On this earth, we cannot see God with our eyes, hear Him with our ears, or experience Him in the flesh. Often, we fill in these gaps with how people treat us—their words, actions, and feelings. If we’ve experienced rejection, believing in God’s complete acceptance can feel impossible. We may have imagined an angry God, disappointed or critical of us, but scripture tells a different story.
We know we are accepted because God sent Jesus to die for our sins. His sacrifice allows us to be forgiven, restored, and brought into His presence. There is no greater acceptance than this.
By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; 20 for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
1 John 3:19-21
Reject Rejection
Our hearts and minds are often conditioned by the love language of this world, which is transactional and conditional. The world loves based on popularity, appearance, wealth, or what you can give. This is not real love. True love is unconditional, and it is foreign to the world’s standards.
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16
God Proved His Love
It would have been far easier for God to wipe out the human race start over, but He didn’t. While we were sinners, undeserving of His mercy, He sent Jesus to die for us so we could live forever.
But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
Nothing Can Separate His Love
God did not send Jesus to get something from us; He sent Him to give us something—the gift of relationship and eternal life. When feelings of rejection or unworthiness arise, remember: God’s love is steadfast, unchanging, and sacrificial.
nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
God’s acceptance is complete, unshakable, and eternal. Let that truth sink deeply into your heart today.
