Casting Pearls

My heart is breaking over this precious sister in Christ. She always sacrifices to make the holidays perfect for her guests. She’s done it for years; no matter what she does, it’s never good enough. There’s always one particular person who always finds something to criticize about her. It makes me angry. I wish I could tell her that some people will never be satisfied. It has nothing to do with her and everything to do with them. When critical or snobby people look down on you, it’s because of their insecurities and immaturity. No matter what you do or how perfect you are, it will never be enough for them. Putting you down, helps them to feel superior. It’s not ab out you.

Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in and relies on mankind, Making [weak, faulty human] flesh his strength, And whose mind and heart turn away from the Lord. For he will be like a shrub in the [parched] desert; And shall not see prosperity when it comes, But shall live in the rocky places of the wilderness, In an uninhabited salt land.” Jeremiah 17:5-6

Reject Rejection

When we value other’s low opinions of us, we feel so much lack. It feels like we are cursed as Jeremiah 17:5-6 sums it up. When we look to someone else for our esteem, we will always get hurt. Humans are incapable of perfect love. We should never bow to those who have to have a sense of superiority over us. We aren’t what others think of us. It’s time for us to reject that rejection and turn to the one who knows us best and loves us the most. Though they may continue to prove this, it doesn’t make it true. The truth is that a King values you so much He came to die for you.

“Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord
And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord. “For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters,That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Hold Your Pearls

Rejection is painful; I’m not at all lessening my sister’s hurt; I understand it completely. However, bowing to shallow, insecure hearts that don’t reflect God’s heart places an unworthy human on the throne of our lives. If you are experiencing rejection, it’s not from God. Jesus warns us not to give what’s precious to people who can’t value it. He depicts this in Matthew 7:6 when he tells us not to throw our pearls before swine. He values your soul, heart, spirit, and mind. When we give them to those who can’t value them, we feel trampled and torn to pieces, just like my precious friend. Look up; there is a King of Kings who values you.

“Don’t give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:6
