Stanza #8
God took the first step towards reconciliation by coming to earth in human form. He isn’t sitting in heaven waiting for us to mess up or too busy for us. It’s quite the opposite. Jesus told this parable of the Prodigal Son to show us how God feels towards us. Jesus stepping on the earth is God running to us. He walked a road paved with His sacrifice that ended at the cross. He didn’t wait for us to get our acts together to accept and love us. From that moment in the manger until now, God waits for us to come to Him and through Jesus lovingly embraces us.
And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
Luke 15:11-32
Crimson Path
In His presence, our sins and shortcomings become apparent, but they dissipate as we lift them to Him, this is love. He runs to us, as a father or mother would run to a long-lost child. A parent wouldn’t expect that lost child to make themselves presentable before embracing their son or daughter. To God, we are that long-lost child. We only need to step onto the crimson path leading to Him, and we will find Him running to meet us. Why would He do this; He gave everything for this embrace. Let’s not allow the sound of our to-do lists, our wants, and even our guilt to squelch come the sound of God running to us. There’s no better time than now to step onto the crimson path, and we will find Him running towards us with an open embrace.
