“The Holy Sound” Stanza 4
One of the most desperate needs in my or anyone’s life is grace. We cannot earn grace; earning it defies its very definition. Although He was a mighty God, Jesus came to us as a seed of man, swaddled within the confines of human flesh. God planted Him among humans, and He became subject to the fallout and effects of human selfishness and sin and tempted with His own. He literally walked in our shoes (and feet, too). The fall in the garden produced sin in us. We hurt and hurt others; we perpetuate the cycle. God, in His love, saw our desperate state. He came in the flesh to break that cycle and its power over us. His grace is something we don’t deserve, but He’s passionate about us receiving.
“For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.”

Pure Love
This is grace, knowing that we would fall and helpless to fix it; He came to give us something we could never earn. Since the fall in the Garden of Eden, no person has been without some sin. Pure love brought God to the manger that night. It was that same love that would hold Jesus on the cross as He laid down His life as our bridge to heaven. The always-present scars on his hands now open heaven’s door for anyone who would come. No wonder we call it “Amazing grace.” It’s the sweetest sound to our helpless souls, and God’s greatest passion is for us to receive it from Him.
