“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall give birth to a son. They shall call his name Immanuel,” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23
It’s in the first chapter of the first gospel. It’s not only a name; it’s a daily reminder. This name is embedded in the prophecy in Isaiah. The name is Emmanuel; it means “God is with us.” Although troubles and trials make us feel alone, we only need to invite Him in. God comes to stay. He never abandons us to face difficulty by ourselves. We can take heart because God is with us in it. We may not get the immediate answer or the solution we want. This is the assurance that echoes from the start of time. He wants to walk with us, talk with us, listen to us. Pour your heart out to Him. As 1 Peter encourages us, we can cast our cares on Him, for He cares for us. Knowing God walks with us gives us hope, strength, and courage.
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
