Mother’s Day

Being a mom requires more than anyone has in their natural strength. Have you heard those accounts of moms lifting five times their weight to save their child? It’s the love that draws out strength in us that can surpass our natural limitations. Being a parent draws out the very best and worst out of us. As we get older, we learn to appreciate our moms. Consider when your mom was out of her depth, but love for you gave her the strength to exceed her natural abilities and inclinations. If your mom’s challenges impeded her from what you needed, why not give her some grace as God has given you?

Today’s Poem

Today’s poem likens raising a child to planting, protecting, and growing a flower and enjoying its bloom. Verbally appreciate the moms in your life. If you’re a mom, pat yourself on the back for the times you did well. If you have guilt, there is forgiveness with God. Our children are like blooms in your life’s garden. Pray for them, pray for the moms in your sphere, and those yet to have the privilege of one of the greatest honors in the world—the honor of being a mom.
