There are a lot of theories about this eclipse and so much craziness surrounding it. There are entire prophecies and dispensations on the subject. Everyone you hear makes sense in one way or another, but not all of the facts are available for you to find. What towns are in the center of the crossing path? I don’t know. Will my not knowing affect our life and our salvation?
37 For the coming of the Son of Man (the Messiah) will be just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be [unexpected judgment]. 40 At that time two men will be in the field; one will be [h]taken [for judgment] and one will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken [for judgment] and one will be left. Matthew 24:37-41
Will The Rapture Come on April 8th?
I’m not a theologian, but based on Matthew 24:36, I don’t think the rapture will come that day. Jesus said He didn’t even know. Could there be a new understanding after the resurrection? Sure, but I believe God is the same as the thief in the night. It will be unexpected. However, I have to ask a practical question. Will Jesus return during the eclipse in Texas, Ohio, or somewhere between? Who says that it’s the eclipse as viewed in America that will mark His return? Is it a sign? I believe it is; it’s a sign to get ready. How do we prepare?
And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered them,[a] “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. 4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed. Matthew 26:1-4
Preparation
I live in Texas, where we get some ferocious storms. When there’s a warning, I check the batteries in our flashlights, make sure our generator is charged, and have some bottled water, etc. Just because we don’t get hit with a tornado or power outage doesn’t make me a fool for being prepared. If we get power outages, it’s nice to know that I’m prepared. I have water, snacks, flashlights, and some power. We are not to run around in fear, but it’s a good time to check and ensure that we are prepared if something happens.
36 “But of that [exact] day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son [in His humanity], but the Father alone. Matthew 24:36
Peace
Why worry when you can have peace? Jesus’ return is good for Christians who are going to heaven. Maybe it’s an excellent time to make sure that we aren’t relying on our goodness or God’s goodness without the sacrifice of Jesus to forgive our sins. If you haven’t, know that if you’ve done one wrong thing, it’s a sin, and any sin prevents us from going to heaven. This is why Jesus had to be tortured and die; it wasn’t for the photo op or art inspiration; it was to pay the price that we couldn’t pay. Confess anything you feel guilty about, and thank God for sending Jesus to pay the price for your sins.
33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world, you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] John 16:33
