Hope Takes Guts

When we have been losing the same tiring battle for years, or we have been limited by our minds or the actions of others, it takes guts to believe that something different is possible. Throughout the scriptures, God encourages His people to hope. This isn’t blindly hoping things will improve, but to hope in Him. Sometimes hope feels like a dare, as scary as life and death circumstances. When we look to a blurry heaven through wells of tears, God sees, and He answers those prayers. Maybe in all of the darkness, God is doing something brand-new. Can we dare to believe it?

Brand New
I’ve called you to a new place, can you perceive it?
You’ve not seen or known it, but can you believe it?
Don't look to the past disappointments and fears
I can do something new in this brand-new year.

Embrace your hope, and from it, do not shrink.
Will you walk on water with a chance to sink?
You've been bound, beaten, and held in vain.
A mustard seed’s faith is all it will take.

I've lifted you; you're on steady ground.
Though you’ve been plagued with many self-doubts
Stretch out your faith and reach out and believe
Make yourself ready in faith to receive.

Oh, how I do love you, child of mine,
Life on earth won't always be fine.
But grant to me your heart’s desire.
I'll light your way with my holy fire.

Prepare your heart; receive me today
Give me your plans, and I'll guide your way
I'll never give up, and I'll always love you
The crimson cross is the burden of proof.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
