“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Sometimes we find ourselves in difficult places we never imagined we would be. When we do, we tend to want to place the blame or responsibility somewhere. Some blame others. Some blame themselves. Some blame the devil, the luck of the draw, or even God. Others don’t really know whose fault it is.
Sometimes, it may be a combination of our own choices, the choices of others, and simply living in a fallen world influenced by human flesh and the enemy. We may never fully understand all the ingredients in the cocktail that has become our lives, but we certainly feel the weight of it.
Jesus tells us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So today, rather than trying to carry all of this on my own, I choose to yoke myself to Him. I’m asking Him to help me carry these burdens and guide me through the difficulty.
This is an older poem I dusted off today. Its words met me right where I am, and I pray they bless you as they blessed me today.
